The granite-look floor you see in the best garages is vinyl flake, thrown until the base coat can't hold any more and sealed under a clear polyaspartic topcoat. It hides everything, grips everything and cleans with a broom.
A flake floor is a three-layer system: a pigmented polyurea base coat, vinyl flake broadcast across it while it's wet, and a clear polyaspartic topcoat over the scraped flake. The magic is in the broadcast. When flake is thrown 'to rejection' — until the wet base coat literally can't hold another chip — the finished floor has no thin spots, no visible base coat, and a uniform texture that hides dust, tire marks and the small pits every Utah slab has.
Partial-broadcast floors, where you can see base coat between chips, cost the installer less flake and cost you a floor that shows every speck of dirt. We only install full-flake. It's also the finish we recommend for most garages because the texture gives snowy boots real grip and the multi-tone blends hide the road salt residue that would show on a solid color.
Flake size matters too. We stock 1/4-inch blends for the classic look, 1/8-inch for a finer, more uniform surface, and can mix in metallic or larger 1-inch flake for a bolder floor. All of it goes under the same UV-stable topcoat.
Multi-tone flake camouflages dust, salt residue, tire marks and minor slab imperfections between cleanings.
The chip texture plus an anti-slip additive in the topcoat means grip when you walk in from a snowstorm.
Full broadcast builds the most film of any decorative finish, so it wears the longest under tires and tool chests.

We grind the concrete with dust-controlled diamond grinders to open the pores. Never acid etching, which is why our floors don't peel.
Cracks, pits, spalls and control joints are filled with polyurea joint filler and mender, then ground flush. Moisture is tested before anything goes down.
A pigmented polyurea/polyaspartic base coat is rolled on and wets into the ground concrete for a mechanical bond.
Vinyl flake is broadcast to full rejection (or metallic, quartz or solid color applied), then scraped smooth once set.
A clear polyaspartic topcoat locks it all in — chemical, UV and hot-tire resistant. Walk on it that evening; park on it in about 48 hours.

Full flake is broadcast to rejection, so no base coat shows through and the floor is uniform, thicker and more slip-resistant. Partial flake leaves base coat visible between chips — it's cheaper for the installer and shows dirt. We only install full flake.
It adds a light texture, similar to fine sandpaper under the clear coat. It's easy to sweep and much easier to walk on when wet than a smooth solid-color floor. If you want smoother, we can do a second topcoat or choose micro flake.
