Cool-deck acrylics help for a few years and then flake. We prep the same way we do everything: grind off the old coating, repair cracks and spalls, then apply a polyurea base, a broadcast of colored quartz or vinyl flake, and a UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat with a heavy anti-slip aggregate. We finish cleanly to the coping and can continue the same surface across the patio, hot tub pad and walkways so the whole backyard reads as one floor.
