Eighty percent of a coating's lifespan is decided before the first drop of resin goes down. We diamond-grind every slab with dust-controlled planetary grinders, and we'll grind for you even if someone else is coating.

Acid etching is what DIY kits and cut-rate installers do because it's cheap: pour muriatic acid, scrub, rinse, hope. It leaves the concrete's surface laitance in place and leaves salts in the pores, and coatings applied over it peel — which is why nearly every failed garage floor we're called to fix was acid-etched. Diamond grinding is what industrial floor contractors do: mechanically remove the weak top layer and open the pores so the coating anchors into the slab.
We run planetary diamond grinders with HEPA dust extraction, so the garage isn't a dust bowl and your house stays clean. The same equipment removes old epoxy, garage floor paint, acrylic sealers, carpet glue and tile thinset, knocks down high spots and trip edges, and leaves a uniform profile ready for coating.
We offer grinding as a standalone service too — for homeowners planning to coat later, for other contractors, and for basements and shops where a clean, dust-free slab is the goal.
A ground CSP-2/3 profile gives the coating something to grip. Etched concrete doesn't.
Laitance, curing compound and old sealers come off so the coating bonds to sound concrete.
HEPA-vacuum shrouds capture the grinding dust. No silica cloud, no gray film on the cars.
Failed epoxy, paint, glue and thinset come up in one pass instead of days of scraping.
High spots and lipped joints are ground down for a flatter, safer floor.
Prep-only for later coating, or for other trades.
Every SwiftHand floor follows the same sequence. Skipping a step is how coatings fail, so we don't.
Measure the space, check the slab for moisture and old coatings, pick a finish. You get a written price — online in minutes or in person.
We grind the concrete with dust-controlled diamond grinders to open the pores. Never acid etching, which is why our floors don't peel.
Cracks, pits, spalls and control joints are filled with polyurea joint filler and mender, then ground flush. Moisture is tested before anything goes down.
A pigmented polyurea/polyaspartic base coat is rolled on and wets into the ground concrete for a mechanical bond.
Vinyl flake is broadcast to full rejection (or metallic, quartz or solid color applied), then scraped smooth once set.
A clear polyaspartic topcoat locks it all in — chemical, UV and hot-tire resistant. Walk on it that evening; park on it in about 48 hours.
Grinding is included in every coating quote. Standalone grinding and coating removal is priced per square foot based on what's coming off — bare concrete profiling starts around $1–$2 per square foot; thick epoxy, glue or thinset removal costs more. Book a free consultation for an exact number.
Financing: 0% APR for up to 12 months and $0 down through Wisetack on approved credit — a $3,000 floor is $250 a month, interest-free. Financing details.

Acid etching removes almost nothing and leaves salts behind. Grinding mechanically removes the weak surface layer and creates a profile the coating can anchor into. Every major coating manufacturer specifies grinding; the ones who accept etching are selling kits.
Not with dust extraction. Our grinders run with HEPA vacuums and shrouds. You'll see a little fine dust at the edges, which we clean up before coating.
Yes. Failed epoxy, garage floor paint and acrylic sealers all come off with the diamond grinder. It's the first step of every re-do we take on.
Yes. We seal off doorways and run HEPA extraction. It's the same setup we use masking off kitchens for cabinet work.
