Our Installation Process — In Order, Every Time

Eighty percent of a coating's life is decided before the resin opens. Here's exactly what happens on install day, why each step exists, and what we'd never skip.

Diamond grinding

We grind the concrete with dust-controlled diamond grinders to open the pores. Never acid etching, which is why our floors don't peel.

Repair & moisture check

Cracks, pits, spalls and control joints are filled with polyurea joint filler and mender, then ground flush. Moisture is tested before anything goes down.

Base coat

A pigmented polyurea/polyaspartic base coat is rolled on and wets into the ground concrete for a mechanical bond.

Flake or finish broadcast

Vinyl flake is broadcast to full rejection (or metallic, quartz or solid color applied), then scraped smooth once set.

UV-stable topcoat

A clear polyaspartic topcoat locks it all in — chemical, UV and hot-tire resistant. Walk on it that evening; park on it in about 48 hours.

Before install day

  • Consultation. Instant online (~5 minutes) or in person. We measure, look at the slab, check for old coatings, ask about moisture and pick a finish.
  • Written quote. Prep method, every layer, flake coverage, schedule (one day or two), warranty terms.
  • Your prep. Clear the garage. We'll tell you exactly what to move and offer a storage option if you need one.

Install day

  1. Masking. Walls, stem walls, doors and anything staying in place get masked the SwiftHand way.
  2. Grinding. Planetary diamond grinders with HEPA extraction open the slab to a CSP-2/3 profile and remove any old coating, sealer or curing compound. Edges are hand-ground.
  3. Repair. Cracks are chased and filled with polyurea mender; pits and spalls filled or skim-coated; joints filled. Everything ground flush.
  4. Moisture. Tested. Elevated readings get a vapor-barrier primer and, if needed, a second day.
  5. Base coat. Pigmented polyurea rolled to a wet, even film, cut in at the walls.
  6. Broadcast. Flake thrown to rejection (or quartz, metallic or solid color applied). Once set, excess flake is scraped and vacuumed.
  7. Topcoat. Clear polyaspartic with anti-slip additive, back-rolled for an even finish.
  8. Walkthrough. Crew lead and you, before we leave. Masking removed, floor inspected, cure instructions in hand.

After

  • Foot traffic: that evening.
  • Vehicles: about 48 hours.
  • Heavy loads, jacks, lifts: 5–7 days.
  • Cleaning: sweep, squeegee slush, mop with neutral cleaner. No wax, no sealer.
What we never do: acid etch, skip the moisture test, partial-broadcast flake, use an epoxy or urethane clear on anything that sees sun, or coat over an old coating.
