What's different up high

• Snow volume. Skis, sleds and cars bring in gallons of snowmelt daily. The floor needs to shed it to a drain or the door.
• Salt and cinders. Canyon roads get heavy treatment; cinders scratch.
• UV. High-altitude sun is harder on coatings — one more reason epoxy clears aren't used.
• Swings. A heated garage next to a -10°F night stresses the slab; the coating has to flex.
• Second homes. Floors that sit unheated for weeks then get heated fast.
