Slippery Floor When Wet — Traction Built In

Snowy boots on a glossy floor is a trip to the ER waiting to happen. Slip resistance isn't an option on a Utah floor; it's part of the system, and it can be added to a slick floor you already have.

Slippery Garage Floor When Wet

Why floors get slick

Smooth solid-color epoxy, high-gloss clears with no additive, and sealed or polished concrete all lose traction when wet. In a garage that means every snowy evening from November to March.

How we build in grip

  • Flake texture. A full-broadcast flake floor has a fine, uniform texture underfoot.
  • Anti-slip additive. A fine polymer or aluminum-oxide grit goes into every topcoat we install, tuned to the space — light in a showroom, heavy on a pool deck.
  • Quartz. The grippiest decorative finish, for pool decks, wash bays and commercial kitchens.

Fixing a slick existing floor

If your current coating is sound, we can scuff it and apply a new polyaspartic topcoat with anti-slip. If it's smooth epoxy that's also yellowing or lifting, we grind and reinstall.

FAQ

Common questions

Does the texture make it hard to sweep?

No. A flake floor with a standard additive sweeps like a smooth floor — the texture is fine, like 400-grit paper.

Can you make a metallic floor slip-resistant?

Yes, with a fine additive that's invisible in the finish.
